Décio Noviello: Acontecimentos

Décio Noviello

2016
Exhibition view at Museu Mineiro, 2016. Image supplied by Rafael Perpétuo.

A survey of Décio Noviello’s work from the late 1960s to the mid-2000s brings together painting, screenprinting, sculpture and drawing in dialogue with his work in set design, costume and carnival.

Presented in Museu Mineiro’s temporary exhibition gallery, the show brings together different periods and media in the artist’s career. Alongside paintings, screenprints, sculpture and drawings, it includes sketches for theatre productions, costumes, accessories and designs for the Carnival decorations of Avenida Afonso Pena, made between 1982 and 1988.

Some pieces were shown to the public for the first time. The exhibition highlights the relationship between Noviello’s visual research and his work as a carnival, set and costume designer, offering a view of the diversity of his practice.

Introduction based on the exhibition record published by Agência Minas Gerais on 29 February 2016.
