Antropologia local para formar uma topografia sagrada

Dagson, Gabriel Nast and Haisson

2013
Exhibition view at Galeria de Arte do BDMG Cultural. Image supplied by Rafael Perpétuo.

Paintings, collages and objects by Dagson, Gabriel Nast and Haisson connect street art, institutional spaces and everyday life. Developed through dialogue with three artists associated with Arena da Cultura, the curatorial project questions established boundaries between artistic practices.

The title reworks an expression by Harald Szeemann to investigate human activity within its local settings and its relationship with spaces that confer artistic legitimacy. The research connects popular urban expression with media and objects recognized as part of artistic tradition.

Dagson develops relationships between painting and sculpture using everyday materials. Gabriel Nast layers images and memories, particularly in Povo Brasileiro, a series based on Darcy Ribeiro’s book. Haisson combines spray paint, watercolour and objects, also using supports found in his community.

The selection incorporates objects, books and visual references that create connections between the artworks, design and everyday life. The project extends the dialogue of artistic education developed at Arena da Cultura into the exhibition space.

Introduction based on Rafael Perpétuo’s exhibition proposal and curatorial text.
